One of the biggest problems with drilling in reinforced concrete revolves around the differences in heat that the bit handles during the job. When the bit hits rebar, it gets exposed to extreme heat. As it cools back down, the integrity of the bit gets compromised. It often breaks much more quickly when you put it back to work. The Diablo Rebar Demon seems to redefine what a hammer drill bit can accomplish.

Diablo tells us these bits last up to 7x longer in concrete and reinforced concrete and offer the trade industries the fastest, coolest, and most durable SDS-Max and SDS-Plus rotary hammer drill bits on the market.

The Diablo Rebar Demon gets its extreme extended lifespan because of a few upgrades they made to the SDS-Max and SDS-Plus hammer drill bit.

First, these bits feature up to 2x more dura-carbide than 2-cutter braised bits. This allows them to withstand up to 1800° F. If you’ve ever drilled into steel—bits get very very hot. Considering that standard bits can fail at 800°, this heat resistance plays an important part in drilling through rebar.

Next, the Diablo Rebar Demon bits also feature a 4-cutter full carbide head. In contrast to the standard 2-cutter head, Diablo’s hammer drill bits extract smaller bites in rebar for controlled, consistent wear and reduced vibration. That means faster, more precise drilling, as well as a longer lifespan.

Finally, Diablo uses a Tri-Metal Fusion welding process in the production of the Rebar Demon bits. The company claims this process results in a weld that’s 3x stronger than what you’d get with 2-cutter braised bits. It helps keep the full carbide intact to withstand the extreme heat when hitting rebar.

Diabo believes that the Rebar Demon line offers Pros the total solution for drilling in both concrete and reinforced concrete. They say they have the most complete range in the industry. But, what does that range look like?

The line of SDS-Plus bits ranges from 5/32″ to 1-1/8″ bit sizes, while the SDS-Max options range from 3/8″ to 2″. You can pick up the Diablo Rebar Demon bits anywhere that Diablo products are sold.
