Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Milwaukee designed the Carbide Multi-Material Drill Bits with the versatility to handle any material the job throws at you. Bricks, block, concrete, steel, aluminum, ceramic tile, backerboard, wood, PVC, and drywall all crumble to the mighty power of these Milwaukee Shockwave bits. We’ve already covered the best drill bits and the best drill bits for metal. But what if you have to go through a combination of materials?

The secret to the performance of the Milwaukee Shockwave Multi-Material Drill Bit comes by way of the aggressive multi-grind carbide tip.

Milwaukee designed the bits to provide up to 10x longer life in stacked materials over standard masonry bits. They also claim up to 85% faster drilling speeds in metal. We’ll look forward to putting these up against the similar Bosch Multi-purpose drill bits we reviewed some years back to see how they compare.

They are impact-rated and feature a 1/4″ hex shank to fit all manner of impacts, drill/drivers, and hammer drills. Pop them in the hammer-drill mode for concrete, brick, and block. For everything else, just drill.

Available in sizes up to 1/2″, the Milwaukee Multi-Material Drill Bits provide an all-in-one solution for the widest variety of materials, tools, and applications. They go far beyond the company’s Red Helix drill bits. As you can see in this helpful table, these bits also provide a more versatile approach than Milwaukee’s dedicated hammer drill masonry bits.

The Milwaukee Shockwave Multi-Material Carbide Bits are available as single bits. They come in 1/8″, 5/32″, 3/16″, 1/4″, 5/16″, 3/8″, and 1/2″ sizes. You can also opt for the 5-piece kit, which retails for around $19.97. It includes a 5/32″, 3/16″, 1/4″, 5/16″, and 3/8″ bit.

In his free time, you might find Chris with his nose jammed in a book, or tearing out his remaining hair while watching Liverpool FC. He enjoys his faith, family, friends, and the Oxford comma.
